A Festive Escape
I've been visiting St Andrews for as long as I can remember; it's a place very close to my heart. My absolute delight of a boyfriend surprised me with an overnight stay between Christmas and New Year at the Fairmont St Andrews - a nice, calm break in the madness of the festive season!
We visited at the same time last year so we could spend some quality time together during a rare break in Ali's work schedule and it was just the perfect little escape. The hotel has recently had a multi-million pound makeover and it looks spectacular. Just a five minute drive from the town centre, it's the perfect base for exploring. We spent the morning doing just that - walking the beach with cups of coffee to fight off the baltic weather and munching Fisher & Donaldson famous fudge doughnuts (THE BEST). Another truly decadent experience that has to be indulged is running yourself a huge bubble bath in the gorgeous marble bathroom.
The complimentary toiletries are a bit of a dream - the usual selection of stuff, but from the damn luscious Le Labo. I'm not normally one for rose scented products, but the fragrance of Le Labo isn't at all overpowering. If a bath isn't your thing, there's also an excellent spa complete with swimming pool and sauna. I look forward to a return visit after Christmas this year!
